Thought I'd check in here since I haven't posted since April and now it's June! I took two, six-day trips in May (one to California to see my mom for Mother's Day, and one to Chicago for a graduation). I patched together runs and workouts while away, but the travel days and time changes cut into a smooth training routine (and I missed essentially two weeks of Pilates lessons at the studio!). On the 15th I turned 62! As I mentioned previously in a blog post, all of my track workouts and other activities (walks, Pilates, outdoor runs, gym workouts) I post to Strava. I still enjoy touching base with this blog, even if I don't have any meet results to share. I will be competing in the Bella Mile meet this coming Saturday morning. Alison and Lorraine are going, and I thought it might be a fun (albeit painful) kind of training session for the 800 (I will be racing in an 800 the following Friday at the East Coast Championships meet). I will have one more track workout this week on Wednesday. Yesterday at track practice, Alison and I did a time trial 800. I ran 2:26. I was okay with this time. It's not my best, obviously, but it felt pretty good, and I was pacing myself, so it was a good learning experience. This coming Sunday I have to attend a memorial service in NYC, and I have a massage with Geoffrey next Tuesday. So there is lots going on. I may do another meet the third weekend of June, not sure yet, and end the month with the Mid-Atlantic meet that our club is hosting on the 28th out in the suburbs. The next day (the 29th) I will be heading to Minnesota for the summer.

I am feeling both trained and untrained at this point in time. That seems to be a trope as I continue on this journey. Stretches between meets are challenging. I have had two great meets in a row (the indoor meet at Ott in March, and the Penn Relays at Franking Field in April). So it's almost like I need to feed my brain new successes, or I start to feel like a turtle. I know it sounds nuts. But there you have it. I will write a post after my mile race (which will be the second mile race of my life--and my first outdoor one!)

Here is another pic of me starting the second curve in my 400 leg at Penn Relays
