Had a good workout at the Ott Center track today. I followed a workout that I did in January with Alison and Lorraine: 2 x 600 (goal 2:05); 2 x 400 (goal 75 seconds); 2 x 200 (goal 34 seconds) with 3 minute rests between all intervals. I was a little slow on the 600s, especially the first one, running like 2:12, but got the second in 2:08. The 400s I did in 78 and 74 seconds. The 200s I was faster at 33 flat each. I had been to the Pilates studio prior for my reformer lesson, so my back was loosened up (it was stiff after yesterday's workout at the gym--I think the Heart Rate setting on the cycle is a lot tougher [harder to pedal] and it was hard on my lower back). I also did Pilates mat and my PT leg exercises yesterday.  Here's a pic of me recovering today after the track work--legs up the wall for 20 minutes! I find this the best way to recover for my legs and whole body really:

Tuesday I was also at the Ott track--I did 10 x 400 meters (which Alison had done on Sunday at Upper Moorland while I worked out with the sprinters at Audubon). I ran these very steady, at 1:40 (50 seconds each 200). It was a slower pace than I am used to, but I could feel the work by the eighth one! There was just a 90 second rest between each. I did my Pilates lesson at the new studio prior to that workout. I think I skipped the gym after, can't remember why . . . possibly I just didn't feel like it. Oh I remember! It was a whole day of a cold, soaking rain storm, and my socks got wet on the way to the gym, so I just jogged on by! Took at hot bath instead.

Monday was Pilates mat in the morning, and later I went to the gym for my cross training on the cycle. I am glad I have added this to my weekly routine--I will need the aerobic engine for the 800 meter races! I sweat A LOT though, and I have gradually lost about three pounds over the past 6 weeks. My weight fluctuates during any given day from around 153 to 158, so the average is 155. A couple of months ago, before I added the regular cycle work, I was a steady 158. I'm not crazy about losing weight, as I have often struggled to eat enough to put and keep weight on. But, what the heck, it just is. I have to keep buying pants with smaller and smaller waist sizes (at my largest, about 10 years ago, I started buying size 33 to accommodate my waist! But that was just a brief period [a few years] of working and not exercising). I was steady at 32 for a long time, but since coming back home to the track, I am size 31 . . . or 30.  If I drop to size 29 I may have to quit this and focus on golf!

Sunday I did a speed workout with the sprinters on the team. We ran only 2 x 350s at 85%. I ran 59 and 58. I felt like I could have done 2 more, but I didn't say anything. My 800 training has given me more comfortability with volume.

Thanksgiving I took the day off. Last Friday I think I was at the gym, so I must have done the cycle--oh yeah I did, because Wally was there and he made fun of me after, saying I looked like I was involved in a very intense solo spin class.

Tomorrow I am taking the day off and seeing Dr. Aaron for acupuncture. I can't wait. My knees have been a little stiff all week. The last time he worked on my knees they were totally fine the next day. This Sunday I will be back at team practice at Audubon, but I will be working out with the middle distance/distance runners.

I'm looking forward to racing in the 800 in the middle of January in Ithaca, NY. I will compete in a 1 mile race on Saturday, and then an 800 on Sunday (flat track, but it shouldn't matter for these particular events).
