Friday, December 20, 2024 Two workouts on the new indoor track at Penn. Tuesday I did 12 x 200 meters, with 4 minute rests, averaging about 38 seconds for each. The track and the facility are really nice. Running on an indoor track is a lot harder than I thought. The banked turns are rough on the body. It's nice it's climate controlled, however. Today I did 6 x 250 meters with a jog back around to the start between each, averaging 57 seconds; the last interval I did was a 200 meters at 40 seconds. I thought I was feeling tighness/maybe even a slight pain in my hammy, so I called it quits.  Wednesday I went to see Dr. Josh for my 4th PT session, and he gave me a whole new set of exercises. Monday Pilates mat, Tuesday and Thursday I did my Reformer lessons. I went to the gym yesterday and did shoulders and chest. We leave early tomorrow, so I won't be on my regular schedule. Will try to keep to daily Pilates mat routine and PT leg exercises every other day.       ...

Finished with 3 x 200 meters (38 seconds average for the 3) My body felt pretty good all week. Occasionally I sense some tightness in that right hammy, or up near glute, or alongside the hammy on outer band . . . but it's very slight. I will try to use the new indoor track at Penn on...

Sunday, December 8, 2024 Track practice with the team this morning. I completed the workout with the distance runners--the whole workout! I was really challenged today. We did 15 x 300 meters in three sets. Most of the group were running around, maybe 63-64 seconds? I was steady at 66-67 seconds for each 300 (though my last was 63 seconds! [which means the group was probably under a minute for their last, since I still finished "alone" at the back of the pack]). We rested 30 seconds-ish between each (we jogged the 100 meters to start again), and rested 2.5 minutes-ish between sets. I thought I would quit after 10, then I thought I'd try to finish the last 5 at a much slower pace, but I asked teammate Alison for advice, and she suggested I just try "one more" at the same pace. I did that 5 more times. It was an accomplishment for me, as I was very tired at the end. I keep mentioning in these posts that there are a few 65-year-old distance runners on the team who ...
