Friday, February 28, 2025 Had a great solo workout on the track today. I followed a workout Alison shared. It was 6 x 150 at a target of 22.5/23.5 seconds each with 4 min between. Then 2 sets of 300s in 66 ish. I had the wrong end point for the first three 150s (I thought it was the break line, but it's about 15 or so meters before that on the curve). So I estimated my first three at like 25 seconds. 4-6 were on target more or less (maybe a little slow) at 24, 23.5, and 23 seconds. My 300s were all consistent at 66 seconds or less. I took a long hot bath with epsom salts last night--maybe that is why my body felt better than ever today. I had minimal tightness, stiffness, soreness in my legs. It was great. After, I went to the gym to do my PT leg exercises and Pilates mat. Yesterday I did Pilates (slow jog to and from) and chest at gym. Wednesday I did gym, arms and back, Pilates mat. Tuesday was a great workout at the track with Alison and Lorraine. We did: 4 x 400, two min...

Friday, March 29, 2024 Patience and Appreciation It has been almost three weeks since my last post. Today's themes are patience and appreciation. I have had to meditate on patience each day as I practiced "no running one day at a time." And I am really missing it! I have grown quite fond of my daily runs. Not only do I miss the physical movement and conditioning, but I also miss the quiet time in the mind that running provides. And I was, of course, totally enjoying the track workouts I had begun in February. Nevertheless, I stuck to my commitment to not run while I gave my hamstring time to heal. I have been doing my Pilates mat routine pretty much every day (and biking to the studio twice a week for my private lessons with Megan). I have also kept up my weight lifting practice at the gym (though I've avoided working my legs). I did the elliptical machine at the gym one day for 15 minutes, but I just don't dig that thing. I did 15 minutes on the cycle, which w...
Sunday, September 21, 2025 Today ends a pretty good week of training. On Wednesday I did Pilates mat and weight strength training at gym. Thursday I did some cross training--a full hour on the bike at the gym (tough!). Friday I ran 1k intervals along the river with 90 second rests: 6 of them at a 5:35 /km pace. I went to gym after for Pilates mat and leg strengthening exercises. THEN I went to see Dr. Aaron for acupuncture and cupping. Took Saturday as a rest day. Today, Sunday, was track practice. Did a hard workout, trying to build up my anaerobic strength for the Bridge to Bridge relay in two weeks. We did 5 x 300m with 100m jog between (averaged about 1:05); 2 x 1200 meters at 6:41; finished with 5 more 300 meters (averaged 1:03). Felt great today.
